Open Your Hand...to letting go, to letting in, to accepting, to releasing. Open Your Hand...so that you may be open to connection, empathy. Open Your Hand... so that we may grow our capacity to heal each other.
Dråsa is a sound project for vocal mapping of attachment and transformation. Through improvisation and collaboration with visual and movement artists, they hold space for embodied memory to arise within the body, to observe emotional composting, and tend to what is seeding.

Note from the artist:
"Open Your Hand documents a chapter of my process of remembering and reprocessing childhood domestic violence and patiently letting it go. Learning to forgive, open, and trust. The importance of allowing distance and rest into the healing process, and holding space to listen to unprocessed traumas in the body. Trusting, not forcing.
It was made during a two month residency in Finland in 2017. These recordings emerged out of a daily improvisation practice at Platform in Vaasa. I was working closely with Finnish multidisciplinary artist, Zarah Holmberg - they painted the album cover during a recording session using field recordings we took together. One of the techniques I used was to close my eyes and allow my voice to trace the edges of an environment that I was imagining, and that grew into tracing feelings. I invite you to try it by tracing your surroundings with your voice while walking (eyes open) on an empty street ~"
